Why Buy from a Local Florist

There are many reasons why a consumer should purchase their Flowers from a local Florist, as opposed
to those numerous online, national companies. The obvious reason is cost. When you use a national company,
you're spending way more money than you have to. They charge a service charge of up to $15.00 as well as
taking another 30% from the cost of the product. It's a standard practice, and they all do it, but few
consumers are aware of it. Florists pay monthly dues and fees to be associated with these national companies.
In exchange for the work, the companies take 30% of every order, in addition to the many many fees involved.
Included in the price is the "supposed" delivery charge. It's simply not true. The national companies keep the fee
and cloak the name as a "service fee". Florists then get the order, minus the 30%, and first remove their delivery
fee before the flowers are even made. For example. Mrs Jones wants to send $50 worth of Flowers to her mom
who lives in California. By the time the order is done, she spends $50 for the Flowers, $15.00 service charge,
possibly an extra delivery charge, depending on the national online company you are using, plus sales tax.
When all is said and done, Mrs Jones is paying approx. $70.00 The national company then keeps the $15.00 service
charge and sends the balance, less the 30% that they keep, for approx $35.00 but wait, we're not done yet. They
also charge the Florist a "per order fee" of $1.50 for every order that is sent. In addition the Florist deducts their
delivery fee from the $35.00. Delivery fees can vary but expect an average of approx $10.00 Now.....the order that
you just spent $70 on is being filled by the florist with $25.00 to work with. Of course those companies never mention
that the Florist has the right to deduct their delivery...afterall, they are the ones doing all the work, right???

All those national online Floral services are the same. They all charge extra fees and take 30%.
Do yourself a favor and STOP using those companies. It's killing the Floral industry. The Florists are all dying.
Call a local shop by entering "local florist and the city" in which you're sending to in a Google search. The florist there will do a great job,
and you get more for your money. There are no percentages taken out and since you paid using your credit card, are
more likely to get even more flowers than you normally would. The Florists in turn, spend money in their own community
and help keep other businesses in business. .

Without the Florists, those other national companies cannot exist. Florists are the ones that do all the work and they take the credit,
as well as lots of your hard earned money.

Those national companies never ever ever touch or even see a Flower, much less make an arrangement. They are the

Independence Day

Wow that was fun...............not....I am all done wasting my hard earned money on chinese fireworks....for what??? to go deaf and to make a huge mess..

We did have a bbq though =) I do love to eat. The next day I spent planting grass seed and doing lots of yard work...that's real fun in this Florida sun...thought i died 3 times on sunday. At least the pool was refreshing. Not like sometimes where the pool is so warm you jump in with carrots, celery and bouillon.

Flowers in a box???!!!

People do not realize that when they order flowers from some of the online retailers. The flowers come boxed and delivered via a hot ups truck. The problem is that the flowers are shown in a vase and nice and purdy...If/when you read the fine print, it says the flowers come "with" a glass vase. What that means is that your recipient has to become her own florist.

These online floral retailers like to say their flowers are so much cheaper and better quality than the retail florist. It simply isnt true. People pay florists to design and arrange the flowers. Sending flowers in a hot box is tacky and cheap.

Most consumers do not take the time to read the descriptions carefully. In their defense, these retailers deceive the public by showing the flowers already arranged in a vase.

Mike -59 Delivers our south runs- Order taker, processes flowers, organizes the deliveries, confirms addresses, even though our point of sale system does that, helps customers, does payroll and pays vendors...he kinda wears many hats, but still comes to me for final approval on everything. Boston red sux ( ha ha) fan...whoa its fun here. Mike hates florida and just about everything else except for sports...must be nice in his world..

Kenny-58 Main driver for Boca raton. Kenny is an extremely intelligent guy. He doesn't need to work, he does it to keep busy. He will always get the flowers delivered. He knows all the tricks, even so much as checking the palm beach property appraiser website for accurate information. Between kenny and myself, we get it all done and done right.

Dennis-57 Main designer under me. Dennis has 50 yrs design experience. He grew up in his fathers' florist and is an excellent designer. Not exactly normal, but who is these days.

Joe-77 The oldest of the bunch at 77 or so....hey, does it really matter anymore over 60? Joe has over 60 yrs experience. Not exactly the fastest designer in the business, but does quality work and has a wealth of experience. Joe is also a huge red sux fan. Joe does amazing funeral work and an all around great guy...oh, he cannot hear to well so we are always yelling, lol..btw, joe's wife sheila is a great cook..mmmmmmm

Jeff - 49 Jeff is our Sunday driver and our back up during the week. Jeff is just as good, if not better than kenny...Don't tell kenny i said so. One year, Jeff did 140 deliveries in a single 24 hour period...whoa...in this traffic and those gated communities too!!!

Publio- 45- Publio or $%^$#%#$! as we like to call him, is our north driver. He owns a delivery company and takes all our deliveries north of Delray beach, fl.

Karen- 27 Karen is our holiday girl. She comes in and works her butt off every holiday. Karen is the only lady of the group and must put up with all our jokes, etc..she's a trooper.

why do some florists charge so much for roses?

simple, because they can...Roses have a very high markup, so most florists charge what people are willing to spend on them. There are certain times of the year where the wholesale price of roses go through the roof. The rest of the year, roses are relatively inexpensive. Florists can choose to charge a lower price, but most of them do not. Luckily we are different and want our customers to get value for their money
